Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Prov. 31:30

O Heart, That Soars With God!

These are words of Jim Elliot, one of 5 missionaries killed in the jungles of Ecuador in the 1950's. He was 28 or 29 when he died. (You may have heard of Elisabeth Elliot, his widow.) But here are the words found in his diary after his death. He and these 5 men did not fear their death, such was their strong call and committment to the Lord...and their love for him... Their story is in the movie, End of the Spear. Here are the words that touched me:

"I walked out to the hill just now. It is exalting, delicious, to stand embraced
by the shadows of a friendly tree with the wind tugging at your coattail and the
heavens hailing your heart, to gaze and glory and give oneself again to God-what
more could a man ask? Oh, the fullness, pleasure, sheer excitement of knowing
God on earth! I care not if I never raise my voice again for Him, if only I may
love Him, please Him. Mayhap in mercy He shall give me a host of children that I
may lead them through the vast star fields to explore His delicacies whose
finger ends set them to burning. But if not, if only I may see Him, touch His
garments, and smile into His eyes-ah then, not stars nor children shall matter,
only Himself."

I especially like when he says, "to give oneself again to God.." I know many of you reading this, have been there, delight to be there again and again. It is the drawing heart of God that keeps us! I love to read of others in the family of God expressing this love and secret place with our Lord. Hope you were blessed too.
God bless.

Thanks for sharing and reminding us. It is "The drawing Heart of God." That is how we are kept and taken to that secret place. I am going to pray to be drawn by God.
