It's Not About Me

Now, I know none of you are guilty of this, but there does exist persons who are very very self absorbed. It is a somber truth that if we act like it is all about "us" we possess the secret ingredient to a miserable life. Have you noticed that a selfish person is just downright unhappy when all is said and done? Even though they are careful to be catered to, at the end of the day, , thre is always something they aren't happy about. And to top it off, they could be happy, but they rob themselves of the opportunity daily, by only catering more to themselves, and never to others.

"It's NOT about US" is the secret to real happiness. It is one of God's mysteries he tries to convince us to make our own, to do it, to live it.

And we don't have to be blatantly selfish to be guilty of this sin. I'm sure the slithering mindset of "it's all about me" has somtimes, if not often, resided in my own soul. And if I can't admit that, could it be it is there but I haven't a clue? Heaven forbid! Do I sometimes prove I think it is "about Me" by the way I act towards others?

But praise be to God for his wonderful wisdom -- The wisdom that giving actions actually make us happy as well as the person we are making happy. God's wisdom teaches that we have the power to bring happiness to others and be made happy doing it because His Word tells us it is more of a blessing to give than to receive. Oh, to be happy because we really know it is NOT ABOUT US.

How much am I missing by not practicing this and practicing it more often.... you know, outside of just being a nice person. How would it be if I were like Him? Like Jesus? Gee, the unsaved might just listen and believe when I tell them Jesus loves them, died for them, and is the only way to eternal life. Wouldn't I love for people to believe me when I tell them that!
